Prizes and Winners

Thank you!  We sincerely appreciate outstanding fundraisers who make a difference for wilderness and wildlife in Alberta. In recognition and thanks for the support you provide for our work, we will be offering prizes for the leading fundraiser in four separate categories who raises more than $1500:

Senior (more than 65 years) Sponsor Delta Lodge at Kananaskisone night B&B stay and Group 933 – $100 certificate  WINNER: Dr. Richard Guy who raised $6309.00! 

Adult (17 – 64) Sponsored by MECsleeping bag, Patagonia – shirt and gear and Gord’s Running Store – Brooks Shoes for You!  WINNER: Dave Beninda who raised $1925.00!

Child (6 – 10 years) Gift Package in a great little back pack, including admission for you and your family to Calgary Zoo, The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and Calaway Park and more for plenty of family fun and entertainment in some great Alberta destinations. WINNERS: Abigail Hadden (7) who raised $1532.35! and Emma Hergott  (6) who raised $1320.00!

Youngster (5 years and younger) We have a special package for this age range as we have been made aware of some great little fundraisers in this category. Sponsored by Alberta Prairie Railway, the prize is a certificate for the December 2017 Polar Express Train Ride and experience for 2 adults and 2 child faresWINNER: Raymond Hadden (3) who raised $1035.65!

Fundraising Climbers who raise the following amounts will receive gifts in recognition of their support for wilderness and wildlife:

$1000 and moresponsored by MEC – $100 gift certificate  As a bonus incentive in this category, The Calgary Flames provided a signed hockey stick from the fabulous Johnny Goudreau – all fundraisers in this category will have their name entered into the draw for this priceless hockey stick.  WINNER: Jim Campbell

$500 – $999sponsored by Gord’s Running Store – $50 gift certificate  As a bonus incentive in this category, Gord’s Running Store and Brooks have provided a certificate for Shoes for You! all fundraisers in this category will have their name entered into the draw for this great prize.  WINNER: O.J. Zawalsky

$250 – $499sponsored by AWA and Alberta Culture and Tourism – single pass to an Alberta Provincial Historic Site or an AWA canvas bag with a copy of Dave Sheppard’s book, Why Wilderness. As a bonus incentive in this category, The Hitmen  provided 4 tickets for the 2017-2018 Regular Season Home Opener all fundraisers in this category will have their name entered into the draw for this great prize.  WINNER: Kathy Austin

The first 1000 climbers receive an excellent performance t-shirt printed with our famous limited edition artwork celebrating Earth Day and our first event at the Calgary Bow Tower.

Athletes – We will recognize fastest climbers from the podium at the event and all climb times will be recorded on our website in real time. MLA Dave Rodney, Opposition House Leader is sponsoring prizes for the fastest male and female climbers – fabulous Province of Alberta Wristwatches.  WINNERS: Matthew Travaglini (00:07:23) and Kristyn Adams (00:10:36)

Door Prizes – Albino Muppet Photography 16″ x 20″ Grizzly bear photographed by Jamie B, canvas print framed and ready to hang and a Steam Whistle spirit package will be drawn for at the event.  Higher Ground Café Gift Certificates will also be drawn for.

All prizes must be accepted as awarded. AWA reserves the right to substitute prizes for equal or greater value. Prizes are non-cumulative and are awarded based on the categories listed. One prize per eligible participant will be allowed. Prizes are based on individual fundraising totals. Only pledge money submitted by noon, MST on Saturday, April 22, 2017 will be eligible for incentive prizes.
